America's favorite purveyor of finely-sculpted gizmos vibrating in your pants held an event today to unveil a bigger version of its bestselling iPhoneâthe iPhone 6! The base model has a full 0.7 inches of added girth over its predecessor. You can read what it's like to put your hands on one here. The new models go on sale on September 19.
Apple is also coming late to the game with its own smartwatchâa watch with an electronic brain and display that can do things like track your fitnessâcalled Apple Watch. That's an imaginative name. You'll need an iPhone to use one. The New York Times notes that Samsung has been selling millions of smartwatches, along with larger-sized phones, for months already.
(By the way... China Labor Watch put out a report last week, based on research by undercover workers, alleging that 20,000 employees at a plant making iPhone parts are exposed to dangerous metals, lack protective equipment. The group says it warned Apple about its findings last year, but nothing changed.)
