How is it that Slog has been silent on the Lena Dunham thing?
Well, David, first of all, we published a short front-page editorial on this very topic in this week's paper:
And second, this piece by Roxane Gay already said it all. I'm not interested in armchair-quarterbacking the job Dunham's parents did with their kids. I don't think that contributes anything of value to society. I don't think judging a decades-old action by a child based solely on the "evidence" of a single piece of comedy writing in a celebrity memoir is a good use of anyone's time. And I think the fact that this wasn't "news" until a conservative homophobic hate-monger latched onto it is telling. I guess that's my hot take.
