Temperatures Expected to Dip to Below Freezing Tonight: It's supposed to be the coldest night of the week, with lows of around 30. In response, the City of Seattle announced it’s opening a severe weather shelter at the Seattle Center Rainier Room (350 Harrison St) tonight and tomorrow night. The emergency shelter is for those over the age of 18, and will be open from 8:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Police Blame Records Requests for Decision to Reconsider Body Cams: Police in Poulsbo and Bremerton are rethinking their use of body-mounted cameras in light of records requests for all of their videos, reports KOMO News. Obtained videos, including ones of Seattle PD, are then ending up on YouTube, and Poulsbo Police Chief Al Townsend thinks making them public is a potential invasion of privacy. "People with mental illness, people in domestic violence situations; do we really want to have to put that video out on YouTube for people? I think that's pushing it a little bit," he said. Meanwhile, police in Bremerton have decided to temporarily shelve its plan to start its body cam program. “Both departments also plan to ask the state legislature during it's upcoming session to amend public records laws to specifically prohibit these types of blanket video records requests.”

Remains Found in Lake Washington Identified: The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the remains are those of Richard Sweezey, 67, of Mercer Island, who drowned on July 20, 2012. His death has been classified as an accident, reports Q13 Fox.

Seahawks Mask Kickstarter Campaign Reaches Fundraising Goal: The effort to bring the mask that inspired the Seahawks logo to Seattle raised more than $22,000. It’ll travel from Maine’s Hudson Museum to the Burke Museum, where you can see it starting November 22, reports the Seattle Times.

Airlines Sue Port of Seattle Over Wage Increase: The AP reports that an airline industry trade organization is suing the Port of Seattle over its decision to increase the minimum wage (from $11.22 an hour to $13 an hour) for some workers at Sea-Tac.

Inquest Ordered into Fatal Police Shooting at Gas Works Park: The King County executive has ordered a formal inquest into the July 30 shooting of Larry Flynn by Seattle PD, reports KOMO News.


South Korean Court Sentences Ferry Captain to 36 Years: To refresh your memory, more than 300 people died (most of them high school students) after a South Korean ferry capsized in April. The court acquitted Lee Joon-Seok of murder, however. Tragically, ten people are still missing, although the South Korean government has officially ended the search for more bodies. Lake Stevens Officer Resigns Amid Criminal Investigation: In Lake Stevens, a police officer named Andrew Thor has resigned in light of allegations by a Pierce County woman whom he allegedly dated that he used police resources to amass a dossier of personal information. According to KOMO News, the woman said he also lied about his name, his background, and his profession, and made “suggestive remarks” about his guns.
