Don't get too excited. The Seattle Police Department has released some footage from one of the 12* officers now wearing body cameras in the East Precinct, but it is totally boring.

The high point comes at the 2:52 mark:

"I have to inform you you're being audio/video recorded," says the officer whose video feed we're seeing.

"I have to inform you you're being audio/video recorded," the other officer responds.

LOL!

Still, this gives you some idea of what the cameras are able to capture. And it's an excuse to remind you what body cams can do, can't do and will do whether you like it or not. More about the rules officers are expected to follow—though there's no discipline for, say, not turning on the camera when they should—here.

*I've previously reported before that 13 officers would be wearing cameras since that's what SPD told me and what their contract allows for. They've since said 12 officers are testing the cameras.
