The screening of the film Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him?) and the musical tribute to the late, great singer/songwriter that was slated to happen at Chop Suey's Dragon Lounge last night has been moved to the Wildrose bar on February 2. The Nilsson tribute band includes members of the Dutchess and the Duke, Sashay, Underworld Scum, and others.

In his 1960s and '70s prime, Nilsson was an ingenious tunesmith and lyricist who had a string of hits ("Coconut," "Without You," and "Jump Into the Fire"), and sang Fred Neil's "Everybody's Talkin'," which dominated the soundtrack to Midnight Cowboy. Most importantly, Nilsson wrote the theme song to the TV show The Courtship of Eddie's Father. No less a personage than John Lennon hailed Nilsson as his favorite American musician. Despite such success and fame, Nilsson faded from popular consciousness after his '70s peak, although Stranger arts editor Sean Nelson did his part to keep Nilsson's songs alive by performing Nelson Sings Nilsson at Town Hall in 2006 and at other venues in Seattle and LA.
