The SPD's Cynthia Whitlatch, who is at the center of an investigation by the police department, has been removed from desk duty and placed on paid administrative leave, according to Seattle Police Officers Guild president Ron Smith.

"It is my understanding," Smith said, "that she has been placed on administrative reassignment to her residence."

This means her gun and badge have been taken from her, for now, The Stranger has learned.

Department spokesperson Sean Whitcomb said that due to department policy concerning ongoing investigations, "there's no new information that we can release to the public regarding her status."
