If you were unfamiliar with the fact that the Clintons basically roll around in foreign money all day, now’s a good time to read up. The New York Times has published a fairly in-depth look at some of the Clintons’ money dealings, specifically the relationship between the Clinton Foundation and the Russian Uranium One deal while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state.

Apparently, a lucrative deal between the Russian company and the Canadian mining industry required approval by a committee of US government agencies, including the State Department headed by Secretary Clinton. Although Mrs. Clinton’s appointment to the State Department required that the Clinton Foundation limit foreign government contributions and disclose all donations, Uranium One’s chairman was able to circumvent these rules by donating more than $2 million through his family charity, the Fernwood Foundation. Add to that a myriad of contributions from people with ties to Uranium One estimated at up to $5.6 million and you have a lot of money circling around this deal. There is currently no proof that this money was in any way tied to approval of the Uranium One deal, but the timing warrants investigation.

It’s a bit of a long read, but worthwhile, especially in light of Hillary’s more “woman of the people” image during this campaign. I get the feeling that discussions on the Clinton business relationships will get a lot of airtime before the election.

On the GOP side, Tea Party boy band lead singer Marco Rubio has emerged victorious in the most recent poll of candidates. This early in the election season, polls mean less than nothing, but it’s fun to watch the numbers go up and down.

Ted Cruz had dinner with some rich gay guys and was all, “Hey, I know I’m totes against your right to marry, but if my daughter was gay, I wouldn’t disown her. Vote for me!” Having now officially established himself as the most progressive candidate in his field, I’m sure he’ll be announcing his support for desegregated drinking fountains next.
