The investigation into Officer Cynthia Whitlatch's lengthy record at the Seattle Police Department (on which we've reported several times) won't be finished until early next month, going right up to a 180-day deadline, according to Office of Professional Accountability director Pierce Murphy. In case you were wondering.

While we wait, it's worth keeping in mind that Whitlatch, despite her concerning record, was an SPD field training officer for 13 years. The results and Murphy's disciplinary recommendation will go to police chief Kathleen O'Toole for review.

But a Texas school district did fire a teacher today after her Facebook comments on the incident in McKinney, Texas, in which a police officer (who has since resigned) rolled around like an action hero and brutally arrested a 15-year-old black girl in a swimsuit. "The blacks are the ones causing the problems and the 'racial tension,'" the fired teacher wrote. You can compare that to Whitlatch's comments on "chronic black racism," made on Facebook last summer, right here.
