Last night, Bernie 2016 organized a nationwide rally to support the candidate's presidential run. The campaign estimates that 100,000 supporters from every state in the union turned out at roughly 3,500 meetings, all of which were happening simultaneously. Of the 62 events that popped up around Seattle, Kelly O and I chose to attend the one at Neighbours on Capitol Hill. There was supposed to be a live video of Bernie talking directly to supporters, but the tech folk at Neighbours couldn't get it up and running, so they just showed an uplifting campaign video instead. We got ahold of several people as they milled about and asked them the same question: "Why do you support Bernie Sanders for president?"
Roi Martin "He represents an honest candidate for president." Kelly O

Mark "The policies he supports have been shown to work in other countries. Specifically, single-payer heath care, paid sick leave, and minimum wage. Four supreme court justices might retire soon, so this election is important." Kelly O

Sarah "It's refreshing to hear him. He's not a bullshitter." Kelly O
Mia (Left) "He's about me and not big corporations." James (Right) "He's got courage to fight against income inequality, and also to fight for someone our age to achieve the American Dream." Kelly O
Jon Cairns "He has a long record of being right about everything from civil rights to foreign policy to economic policy." Kelly O
