CBS:

A pre-dawn blaze that heavily damaged a Planned Parenthood clinic was arson, fire investigators in Washington state determined Friday. Pullman Fire Department investigator Chris Wehrung also said a task force involving local agencies was investigating with the help of federal agencies. He declined to release other details. The fire started at around 3:30 a.m. Friday along SE King Drive and caused extensive damage, CBS affiliate KREM reported. Police said alarms in the building were tripped before the fire alarm went off.... The fire follows a recent wave of protests at Planned Parenthood clinics across the country. On Aug. 22, some 500 protesters gathered outside the Pullman clinic, waving signs and calling for Congress to defund the organization.

Samantha Allen at Daily Beast:

On Aug. 22, less than two weeks before the clinic was set ablaze, the Idaho-based Selkirk Pro-Life Alliance sponsored a large anti-abortion protest at the clinic. Over 500 protestors gathered in front of the now-charred building, repeating allegations made by David Daleiden’s Center for Medical Progress (CMP) that Planned Parenthood “sells baby parts” and calling for the organization to be defunded. But at this early stage of the investigation, the most frightening thought about the crime isn’t the possibility that the arson was directly motivated by the anti-abortion protests stirred up by the CMP’s undercover video campaign, it’s the thought that this is simply be business as usual.

According to statistics gathered by the National Abortion Federation (NAF), there have been 186 arsons committed against abortion providers since 1976—an average of over 4 per year. There have also been approximately 40 bombings over the same time period. In fact, a Planned Parenthood clinic located an hour and a half north of the Pullman health center was bombed in 1996, leading to the sentencing of four Idaho men who belonged to an antigovernment militia.

Decades of attacks on clinics, bombings and arson attacks, doctors shot and killed in their homes and churches, and there's no effort by the authorities to identify and track—much less stop—these violent extremists. But the authorities were instantly all over the completely peaceful Occupy Wall Street activists and now they're spying on the completely peaceful Black Lives Matter movement.
