I was hoping this would be the big story out of Oregon today:

Starting today, it's legal to buy marijuana in Oregon. Most shops are open now. A handful of medical marijuana dispensaries in Portland opened their doors at midnight. At AmeriCanna RX, a dispensary on Northeast Sandy Boulevard, the line was steady and long as recreational consumers sought to take part in history. "Why wouldn't I come out to celebrate the legalization of something that shouldn't have been illegal in the first place?" said Tim Culpepper, 30, of Portland, who bought two grams of Gorilla Glue and Girl Scout Cookies, popular marijuana strains. "It's a momentous occasion."

And you gotta love this detail:

Initially, Oregon’s pot sales will initially be untaxed, and the prices set by individual stores. The state will begin taxing sales at 25% in January after lawmakers spend the next several months crafting a framework for charging taxes and licensing additional retailers.

Tax-free legal pot. It would've been the big national story out of Oregon today if it weren't for the fucking NRA, the fucking gun nuts, and the fucking Second Amendment.
