Kiki & Herb, the defunct drag-punk duo, made a Christmas album years and years ago that has long since been out of print. It's such a good album—so beautiful, so funny, so spiteful—I listen to it year-round. It has covers of Nirvana, Radiohead, and Belle & Sebastian on it, mixed up with Christmas songs. It has monologues about people committing suicide by jumping out of windows but (horrifyingly) not dying when they hit the pavement. When I'm on an airplane that gets just a little too turbulent, the only thing that makes me feel better is blasting music into my ear-holes, and Kiki & Herb's Christmas album is my go-to. Even in June. It's called Do You Hear What We Hear? I would be happy dying to Do You Hear What We Hear?

Anyway, it's impossible to find in stores (it's not available on vinyl, right? if someone finds it on vinyl, BUY IT FOR ME!!!), and you can't find it on Spotify, but guess what? Kenny Mellman—i.e., Herb—has the entire album up on Tumblr right now, via Soundcloud. Go listen to it. It will make you love your life (and love the season, or love hating the season, or whatever twisted relationship you have with winter) more.

I recommend starting with "Opening Medley" (the first song, which ends with a car crash), but if you're really pinched for time and only want to hear one track, I'd go with "People Die (Medley)." The entirety of Do You Hear What We Hear? is here.

Enjoy how much better it makes life.
