That was then (three weeks ago then)...

This morning, state Rep. Brady Walkinshaw announced his plan to take on incumbent Congressman Jim McDermott for a US House seat representing the 7th Congressional District, which includes much of Seattle.I welcome any candidate who wishes to put forward their ideas to the voters.... [McDermott said in a statement:] "In the coming months, I look forward to discussing the issues most pressing to my constituents. I remain focused on continuing to fight for working families, veterans, seniors and students across the seventh district."

This is now:

U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott plans to make an "important" announcement Monday, according to an advisory sent to the media on Sunday. No details were provided about what McDermott will say, but speculation among political professionals and journalists is that the 14-term congressman will announce that he will not run for reelection this year. Calls and emails to McDermott's campaign manager and press team went unreturned Sunday. However, sources with longtime experience in Democratic Party politics told KING 5 that McDermott will say he is not running again.
