âWe are at a cultural crossroads in our country, and if we can be in this race to show this country the face of the God that we serveâthis Christian God that we serve is the foundation of our country, our country was built on Judeo-Christian values, we are a nation of freedom of religion, but the God of Christianity is the God of freedom, of individual liberty, of choice and of consequence.â
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz isnât backing away from the endorsement of Mike Bickle, a controversial evangelical pastor who once characterized Hitler as âa hunterâ sent by God to go after Jews who donât to convert to Christianity. Despite calls from Jewish groups to denounce Bickleâs interpretation of scripture, a senior advisor to Cruz instead welcomed the pastorâs support in a statement published today in the Jewish Journal. Bickle, who runs the Kansas City-based International House of Prayer, made the Hitler comment during a 2011 sermon where he discussed two methods he believes God will use to convert the worldâs Jewish population to Christianityâgrace and violence. After discussing the âfishermenâ that will use âgraceâ to persuade Jews to convert, Bickle turned his attention to the âhuntersâ he believes will use violence toward the same end. âAnd [the Lord] says, âAnd if they donât respond to grace, Iâm going to raise up the hunters,'â Bickle said. âAnd the most famous hunter in recent history is a man named Adolf Hitler.â
Being hunted down by Nazis must be one of the consequences Heidi Cruz was referring to.
