TPM:

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is projected to defeat Sen. Bernie Sanders in Saturday’s Nevada caucus, a crucial win for the former first lady as she seeks to prove that she has a broader appeal in diverse electorates than the democratic socialist from Vermont. Her victory was projected by Fox News and NBC News at 5:15 p.m.

But...

Clinton was supposed to win big in Nevada—polls had her way ahead, for a long, long time—so watch her narrow win get spun as a defeat.

Results from GOP primary in South Carolina will be in early this evening. If Trump wasn't already in the lead and expected to win... the insanely hateful, violent statements he made at a rally last night surely would've put him over the top with insanely hateful GOP primary voters in South Carolina...

Jesus. Fucking. Christ.

UPDATE: 3:45 PM. With 82% of caucus sites reporting, it's Clinton with 52.1% and Sanders with 47.8%. And in regards to this comment...

so a narrow win will be spun [by me, Dan Savage] as a defeat

Fixed that for you.

I wasn't spinning it one way or another. Just mindlessly/lazily regurgitating a point that's been made elsewhere/everywhere: Hillary needed a big win to put a stop to the Bernie-has-the-momentum storyline. She didn't get it. But this guy is spinning Hillary's victory as a defeat...

Bernie ended his speech with "on to Super Tuesday," aka March 1, all but conceding South Carolina, where the Dems have a primary on February 27, to Hillary. So Clinton will have another chance to blunt the Bernie's big 'mo storyline before a whole mess of states vote on March 1.

Polls close in South Carolina in five minutes!

UPDATE: 4:15 PM. And the numbers are trickling in...

A moment of silence for the $100,000,000 Jeb! Bush raised and set on fire. [Sniffle.] Okay! Somewhere Matt Baume is weeping...

Hey, maybe they can let the pope ask a question!

UPDATE: 4:30 PM. NBC is calling South Carolina for Trump. Ted and Marco currently tied for second place! Bush way behind in fourth place! Kasich and Carson bringing up the rear! It'll be interesting to see how many candidates are on stage at the next GOP debate in Salt Lake City. Will Bush drop out despite the millions he has on hand? Will Carson stay in the race just to spite Cruz, that fucking liar? Will Kasich drop out—and will anyone notice if he does? ABC, Fox, WaPo, AP, NYT all calling South Caroline for Trump now too. Fun fact: No GOP candidate who won the primary in New Hampshire (like Trump did last week) and the primary in South Carolina (like he did tonight) has ever gone on to lose the nomination. Okay! It's nice outside! I'm going for a walk! Please don't shoot anyone with a bullet that you've dipped in the blood of anything!

FINAL UPDATE: Meanwhile...

America.
