Girls MUSIC
Girls

Girls’ debut, Album, was such a joyful, seemingly out-of-nowhere achievement that it was easy to imagine the band would never best it. As the new full-length, Father, Son, Holy Ghost, makes clear, the debut was just the beginning. Making the most of success-enabled studio time and singing in a fuller, more expressive voice than the Costello whine of the debut, Girls leader Christopher Owens revs up another collection of quirky, catchy, high-drama pop songs that sound great on first listen. Tonight, Girls play the revamped Neptune with Sonny & the Sunsets and Papa. (Neptune Theatre, 1303 NE 45th St, www.stgpresents.org, 8 pm, $14, all ages)
