A California jury just convicted Michael Jackson's doctor of manslaughtering him with drugs—meanwhile, Cirque du Soleil gets all bendy and creative with the man’s unimpeachable songbook. Hopeful signs: Cirque’s history of visual ravishment, a live band, and those songs. Totally iffy: Applying Cirque’s childlike whimsy to an artist with a trail of child molestation allegations and undisclosed settlements behind him. Either way, it will be something to see.
