The Muppets

We’ve waited for decades for someone to understand what makes the Muppets tick, and along comes our goofy-looking savior in Jason Segel. The Muppets is a singing, dancing, wholeheartedly entertaining adventure that works on every level: sight gags and pratfalls for the easy laughs, sly pop-culture references (including probably the best use of Cee Lo Green’s “Fuck You” ever) for the sheer cleverness of them, and bigger questions—about growing up, selling out, and staying friends through it all—to ponder in the lobby. Hell, Muppets can even make Jack Black funny. Will miracles never cease? (See Movie Times)

I thought the Muppets was grimly and earnestly heartwarming, and not very funny. I miss the clever and rebellious humor the TV show had when it was on the air. The movie didn't give speaking roles to many of the funniest characters, such at the Swedish Chef, Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker, and others.
