One of the revered Belleville Three techno pioneers, along with Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins struck first and deepest among that triumvirate with tracks that forayed into a breathtaking, gridlike future with scientific zeal. It was Atkins, as Model 500, who vibed best with the German producers he inspired and with whom he later collaborated. Juan’s hard, forbidding dance music from the ’80s and ’90s still sounds like enticing alien soundtracks. Don’t miss this legend’s rare Seattle appearance.
