One of my musical highlights of 2011 was watching Allen Stone and the Seattle Rock Orchestra perform Stevie Wonder’s über-romantic ballad “You and I.” Stone nailed it. The goose bumps lasted for 20 minutes after the song ended. I’m not the only person who gets heart palpitations from hearing Stone’s unbelievable and soulful voice—with a DIY approach and a self-released digital-only album, Stone peaked at number two on the iTunes soul chart and performed on Conan in October. He also sold out the Neptune in advance, so tonight’s show is a no-go. The good news? They added a second show for Sunday, January 15. I recommend you buy tickets this instant and prepare for brain explosions. (Neptune Theatre, 1303 NE 45th St, www.stgpresents.org, 9 pm, $15, all ages)
