In one revelatory scene in the 2010 documentary Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, the septuagenarian standup comedian lights into an audience member who dares to express offense at one of her jokes. Rivers’s response (I’m paraphrasing): “Fuck you. FUCK YOU. Making jokes is what I do. If you don’t like it, get the fuck out.” Elsewhere, the film captured Rivers’s epic, lifelong workaholism in all its twitchy glory. Tonight, the brilliantly bitchy workaholic takes the stage at Benaroya to say a lot of stuff that will shock you and crack your shit up.
