American Pie

As fall starts to tippy-toe into our lives, so do bushels of seasonal fruit, including apples, pears, and peaches. And, sure, you could enjoy it in its virginal state—unsweetened, perfectly ripe—but winter is inevitable! You don’t want to freeze, right? Build your winter coat with a monstrous slice of American Pie’s sour cream apple pie. For about four bucks, you get the widest, thickest slice of pie you’ll find in Seattle, filled with several layers of thin slices of apple, glued together with an almost custardlike filling. It is incredible. (American Pie, 5633 Airport Way S, www.americanpiebc.com, 11 am–5 pm)

highly recommend! They may a MEAN peanut butter pie! But they tend to close too early for me, which means I usually need to head down the block to the Square Knot (next to the 9lb Hammer) for the occasional evening and weekend pie fix.
