‘The Master’

The Master isn’t Paul Thomas Anderson’s best film, but it’s still an amazing, maddening, intriguing headfuck. The prime mover is Joaquin Phoenix, who turns in an intense performance as brutally awkward and awkwardly brutal as anything you’ve seen on a screen. But Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams are turning in career highlight performances, too, and the story—a thinly veiled account of the birth of Scientology—will haunt you for days. You must watch it in glorious 70 mm, as Anderson intended, at the Cinerama, also known as Seattle’s First Church of Moviegoing. (See Movie Times)

The most amazing thing about this movie is that I don't hate Amy Adams.

It was long, boring and pointless.

@2 I agree, the acting was great but the plot needed something more

It was indeed long, boring and pointless. I left feeling like I'd been punked. How is this film getting so much positive press? HATED IT.

Hate Scientology and hated this movie even more. Why is The Stranger pushing it on us? Or is that what the MSM does nowadays?

Dull. Heights of denial from the wanna-be cult of Paul Thomas Anderson and film hipsters. Face it, he's no Wes Anderson gone dark side.

Posters 2~6. You're certainly entitled to your opinions but I'm just going to throw this out there: you have terrible cinematic taste.

why'd you even bother going to see something this challenging when Frankenweenie is out?
