In just three years, Short Run has become one of the most important events in the Seattle literary calendar. It’s a free, daylong celebration of small publishers from Seattle and around the country, featuring comics, literary zines, gorgeous art prints, food, and entertainment including “All-Day Transformative Hair Brushing.” Exhibitors I’m especially excited to visit include Alice Blue Books, Babel/Salvage, Sparkplug Books, the Center for Cartoon Studies, and Chin Music Press. Also exciting: Short Run will conclude with a “Comics Prom,” a nerdy dance party featuring the Shivas and Specs Wizard. (Washington Hall, 153 14th Ave,, 11 am–6 pm, free; Comics Prom, 7:30–11:30 pm, $5, 21+)
