Geoff Dyer is a fantastic essayist. He’s probably known best for his funny, smart collection Yoga for People Who Can’t Be Bothered to Do It, but he’ll forever hold a place in my heart for Out of Sheer Rage, a book about not writing a book about D.H. Lawrence. Dyer is in town to read from Another Great Day at Sea: Life Aboard the USS George H.W. Bush, a first-person account of Dyer’s experiences as writer-in-residence on an impossibly huge aircraft carrier. The only thing more charming than Dyer on paper is Dyer in person.
