I can't make a cross-my-heart-and-hope-to-die promise that this year's NWNW will be awesome, because nobody ever knows what the hell is going to happen at NWNW. But I've never attended a showing that didn't have something delightful. This weekend, On the Boards will present new work by freaky puppeteer Kyle Loven (who, in the past, has used actual fire as a puppet), music by PDX's Holcombe Waller, and the triumphant return of Jessica Jobaris. Jobaris is one of my favorite choreographers. She's been out of the scene for a while, but makes weird dance that is typically funny—a rare thing among dance people. Be there or be square. (On the Boards, 100 W Roy St, 217-9888, 8 pm, $14, all ages)
