'Light in Darkness' VISUAL ART
'Light in Darkness'

A neat pile sits on the floor of the gallery. All its elements relate: kindling and recent newspapers, lightbulbs, a set of burner elements, a couple of tea light candles. These were all the sources of light in a cabin on the edge of the forest at the Washington coastline. The act of removing them for this exhibition became the romantic artwork Darkness falls on the Kelly Cabin, Hwy 109, Copalis Beach, WA 98535, by Jason Dodge. In this season's group show at Western Bridge, every work is made of light, but the gallery lights stay off, like at the Kelly Cabin. (Western Bridge, 3412 Fourth Ave S, 838-7444, noon–6 pm, free)
