Happy Hour at Tidbit FOOD & DRINK / BOOZE
Happy Hour at Tidbit

Stay with me, now: Tidbit used to be near the Roanoke Tavern, in the space that was Cassis and then XO and now is Easy Joe's; then Tidbit moved to Broadway and Union, where La Spiga was (before it moved), then the regrettable sushi restaurant Vi Bacchus. At best, Tidbit went from the location fire into the location frying pan; while the motto/menu remains "Where Madrid Meets Napoli on Capitol Hill," the place reflects far less harmonious meetings of interior decoration. But never mind all that: Tidbit's happy hour has $1 well drinks and wine. Also, there are crayons—drinks that cost one dollar are inspiring. (Tidbit Bistro, 1401 Broadway, 323-0840, 4–6 pm and 9 pm–close, $1)

$1?? Wow. I wish I'd known that sooner.

Can they legally do that? I thought you couldn't sell booze in this state for less than its retail cost? (e.g. a 750 ml bottle costing $20 holds a little over 25 oz., or slightly less than 17 1.5 oz. shots, which would come out to about $1.20 per shot).

Now, I suppose if they're pouring from a 1.5 liter bottle the cost-per-shot might come down to about $1.00, but when was the last time you ever saw a bar well stocked with large sized bottles? Conceivably they could refill the 750's from a 1.5 L bottle, or possibly use a gun, but can't recall off the top of my head having ever seen either of those methods used around here.
