'Shadows of a Fleeting World'

The Seattle Camera Club, formed in 1924, was not your run-of-the-mill Sunday photographers klatch: It was a group formed by 37 male Japanese immigrants, and eventually—though it only existed for five years—it came to include the best early photographers in the city. Its story has yet to be explored and told, which is why the Henry Art Gallery is hosting an exhibition and UW Press is rolling out a book. This is a story of your city, in pictures, of rainy streets and modern dancers and warplanes overhead. (Henry Art Gallery, 4100 15th Ave NE, www.henryart.org, 11 am–4 pm, $10)
