Benefit for the Andy Kotowicz Family Foundation

Why: Sub Pop's Andy Kotowicz passed away after an automobile accident in October, leaving behind a wife and daughter (who was heroically rescued from the wreckage by the owner of Rizzo's French Dip sandwich shop). He also left behind a diverse and impressive roster of bands he worked with at Sub Pop, from Midwest noise monsters Wolf Eyes to local hiphop light Shabazz Palaces. Tonight those bands remember Kotowicz with a concert to benefit his family. Even if this concert weren't for a heartbreakingly good cause, it would still be an amazing lineup, also including Mudhoney, Vetiver, Pissed Jeans, A Frames/AFCGT, Fruit Bats, and Michael Yonkers. (Showbox at the Market, 1426 First Ave, 628-3151, 6 pm, $20, all ages)
