Under the Influence

Why: Three diverse authors (and one band) create new work based on a theme, tonight featuring the sharp local talents of Jess Walter (whose The Financial Lives of the Poets was one of the best novels of last year), Nancy Rawles (whose My Jim turned Huckleberry Finn on its head), and the hilarious and often profane Ed Skoog (whose poetry is a Stranger favorite). Together with all-ages pop-rock outfit the Board of Education, the authors will explore the boozy theme of "Under the Influence." (Hugo House, 1634 11th Ave, 322-7030, 7:30 pm, $25)
