'United States of Americana' Release Party

You must've noticed the trends by now: straight razors, home canning, old-school cocktails, speakeasy aesthetics, burlesque, banjos in pop bands, stitch 'n' bitch, spats, mustaches, and on and on. Young Americans are hot for ye olde Americans, and Kurt B. Reighley (Stranger contributor and DJ El Toro on KEXP) has written a book about it. Tonight is the book-release party with sweet meandering country by Rusty Willoughby and Rachel Flotard, pompadoured rocking from Mark Pickerel and His Praying Hands, plus winks and smiles from burlesque veterans Miss Indigo Blue and Paula the Swedish Housewife. Toast yesterday with a slug of rye tonight. (Sunset Tavern, 5433 Ballard Ave NW, www.sunsettavern .com, 8:30 pm, $7, 21+)
