Adam Carolla COMEDY
Adam Carolla

Adam Carolla is not a standup comic. His physicality is awkward, his voice grates, and bleeding hearts will disagree with lots and lots of the things he says. But Adam Carolla is a genius. I would rather listen to Adam Carolla talk (about anything, about nothing, about things that offend me, about things I'd never thought to articulate) than pretty much anyone else in the world. His live shows open with an audience-participation segment ("What Can't Adam Complain About?"—answer: nothing), followed by a whole bunch of Adam Carolla talking. His body will, no doubt, be awkward. But his brain is a treasure. (Moore Theatre, 877-784-4849, 8 pm, $28–$48)

I totally agree. I don't side with half the stuff he says. I don't even find his stand-up that funny. But he's a great talker. Its the only podcast I listen too.

Yeah, wow -- I remember first discovering lovelab in the mid 90's and thinking he was the best personality on radio, maybe all media. I rarely catch anything he does anymore, which is a shame.

Surely my favorite LL segment came one night that some dumb girl called in complaining about her dumb BF. I think the BF maybe was pressuring her to have a 3-way she didn't really want, and there was all sorts of drama and dysfunction, and so Adam interrupts and says, "allright, allright -- tell me one thing here, what's this guy do for a living -- he lays sheetrock, right?"

The girl stuttered for a second or two and tried to steer the conversation elsewhere, but AC wouldn't let it go till she finally admits, "well... it's sheet metal actually." And AC never even broke his train of thought or gloated or anything. He just moved on and addressed their dysfunctionality accordingly.
