Stranger Genius Sherman Alexie won another award—the PEN/Faulkner this time, for his brilliant short-story collection War Dances—and for his victory lap, he's bringing along three international PEN-honored authors (from Australia, Finland, and the Netherlands, all published for the first time in America this month) for a group reading. An appearance by the hilarious and profane Alexie is always cause for celebration, but this is something special: You could very well find a new favorite author here. The one to watch is Dutchman Tommy Wieringa, whose coming-of-age novel Joe Speedboat is garnering comparisons to early John Irving. (Elliott Bay Book Company, 1521 10th Ave, 624-6600. 7 pm, free.)
