44 Inch Chest is dominated by two performances by two famous British actors—John Hurt and Ray Winstone. The first plays an old gangster with the foulest mouth in all of London; the other plays a man whose lion-heart has been smashed into a thousand pieces by his unfaithful and beautiful wife. Hypermacho Hurt wants the devastated husband to get some balls, get over it, kill both the wife and the lover, and move on. Winstone tries to stamp and roar at his lovesickness, but it just won't go away. The broken heart in his chest only knows how to hurt more and more. The result of this great suffering, loud cursing, and humiliating tears is one great comedy. (See Movie Times
