The first time I watched Serenity, I watched it cold, without ever having seen an episode of Firefly, the space-cowboy television show that preceded it. But I got sucked in immediately, thanks in large part to Nathan Fillion's self-deprecating swagger (Fillion should be the biggest movie star in the world: The man is Harrison Ford for our generation). You'll be terrified by the space zombies, charmed by the witty dialogue, and rooting for the good guys all the way through. The hell with Star Wars: This is as good as space opera gets.
