'Becky's
New Car'

The subject matter of Steven Dietz's wonderful new comedy—long-term marriage, midlife stasis, cars—could hardly be more middlebrow. But out of these mundane bits Dietz spins a rich, surprising, emotionally gratifying tale that'll crack your shit up (and should get Dietz on the Pulitzer short list). Aiding things immeasurably: an exemplary cast led by the brilliant Kimberly King and Charles Leggett, who, among many other accomplishments, create one of the most realistic families you'll ever see onstage. (ACT Theatre, 700 Union St, 292-7676. 2 pm, $40. Through Nov 16.)

$40? With that I could spend an entire weekend in a bar and get the all the tragedy and comedy I need. And be buzzed.

I just went to the Apple store at Kent Station and spent $99 to replace my horrible sounding Skullcandy Smokin' Buds with V-Moda Vibes for my Sansa View.

So far, the sound is worth every penny, but maybe I can pawn those Smokin' buds for some cash and see this show.

If you loved Menopause the Musical, you'll love Becky's New Car!

Becky's New Car??? Seriously? This is what the Stranger Suggests? There has got to be something better playing in town to suggest. If you are a straight woman over 50 you MIGHT love this, but what about the rest of us who don't fall into this category. Schmader is right...it is very well written and it has an excellent cast, but that does not make a great play. Pulitzer, Schmader??? WTF! There is definitely an audience for this play, but I doubt that it is the audience that reads the Stranger. THIS PLAY IS WHY MOST YOUNG PEOPLE HATE THEATRE. Sorry Schmader, but you are way out of touch on this one. And its forty fucking dollars.
