Andrew Bird is the best whistling, violin-playing, self-sampling indie-rocker in the biz. His latest album is weighed down by overproduction, but his live performances are beautifully streamlined—typically just Bird with his violin, guitar, and sampler, playing intricate songs on melancholy themes like anxiety at the airport and Monday mornings. This time, he has brought along a drummer and keyboardist, adding more opportunity for interplay between men and machines. (Showbox, 1426 First Ave, 628-3151. 8 pm, $17.50 adv/$20 DOS, 21+.)
