The Stranger

He's most famous for Maus, the first comic novel to win a Pulitzer Prize, in which he recounts family stories like the one about his aunt poisoning his older brother, herself, her daughter, and her niece to keep them from the clutches of the Nazis. He also made the black-towers-against-a-black-sky cover of the New Yorker after 9/11. He chain smokes, and he thinks the world is ending.
