(HIPHOP) Swollen Members are the flagship band for the independent hiphop label Battle Axe Records, which is based in Vancouver, BC. Despite their proximity, the nationally recognized Swollen Members, and other groups distributed by Battle Axe Records, are not closely connected with the local hiphop scene. In fact there seems to be almost no interaction between the hiphop communities in Seattle and Vancouver; yet Swollen Members' music shares many themes and modes with Grayskul's music—the local band that opens for them tonight.
