(READING) As our region increases its connections with the world market system, we can expect to see a rise in the number of international writers who, like Jared Angira, call King County their new home. A Kenyan, Angira has published several volumes of poetry, one of which, Silent Voices, is part of Heinemann Publishers' highly regarded African Series. Angira's knowledge of Western and African poetry is formidable, and he writes from a perspective that's urban and hyper conscious of world events.
