(CONFLICT OF INTEREST) While you may already know Police Beat (the column) by The Stranger's Charles Mudede, you're most likely unacquainted with Police Beat (the film). His Sundance-selected, SIFF-approved film finds poetry in police work. The film focuses on Z, an African-born bicycle cop who moves between Seattle crime scenes in a dream-like haze. Z's most pressing concern is paranoia about his lover, and the tension is delivered here through moody cinematography and subtle musical mood swings. (Egyptian, 801 E Pine St, 781-5755. 1:30 pm, $7.)
