A couple months ago, I interviewed five local musicians (including Levi Fuller and the Pica Beats’ Ryan Barrett) about their favorite books. I then assigned them each a book that I love, and they had to write songs about and in response to their reading experiences. It worked out better than I’d hoped: Some songs are adaptations, others are book reports, and one is an outright refutation of the cynical perversion on display in one of the novels. Tonight, you’ll hear every song from the project performed live, and you’ll get a free CD of songs about books, too. Buy tickets here.
