Believe it or not, this year’s races for Seattle School Board are interesting. There could be a new balance of power in the school district—its very own dysfunctional government entity—after years of controversy over school closures, a $1.8 million scandal, and the superintendent getting fired. Most of the school board is up for reelection in November. Tonight, watch four moderate incumbents face off against activist-y newcomers in one-on-one debates moderated by KIRO’s Dave Ross. The audience will vote for the winners of each round. (Town Hall, 1119 Eighth Ave, 7:30 pm, free, reserve seats at www.strangertickets.com)
