What a beautiful article; it reminded me why I love opera and miss it so much. Thank you!

Go tonight or Sunday to see the other cast with a kickass American tenor of Italian heritage - Michael Fabiano. He got a standing ovation and roars of "Bravo" the night I went. The Seattle Times (rightly) called him "seductively assertive", and he's only about 28 years old, I think. He's got a GORGEOUS voice and is built like an athlete and the man can act. No luster lacking in that department.

Yeah, it's expensive, but every dollar is on that stage or in the pit (orchestra). And it's not like you're going to be going every week.

Do it.

Seattle Opera's subtitles (supertitles as they're above the stage?) have been consistently fantastic for the last several years. Transformed the opera-going experience for me. Bravo.

I gasped aloud when the curtain went up on the snowy stage. Just beautiful. And Michael Todd Simpson's Marcello was a delight.

I saw this with Michael Fabiano last week and it was life-changing. I always thought I didn't really care for tenors (this was only my 4th live opera ever). Turns out I just had never heard one like that!

I agree the sets and lighting were amazing. Did you notice the moon got bigger verrrrrry slowly during the first act?

Please wait...
