But She's Definitely a Star—Twinkling... Hard to Reach...

She's HOT !

"She gets a little farther down the sidewalk and the bike polo guy calls out, slightly menacingly, "I bet my dick's bigger than yours!"

WTF Bike Polo bros?

This is a gorgeous piece of writing that humanizes a very boring and uninteresting performer.

She's always the weakest part of whichever cabaret she's in, and maybe it's because she's not as easy to categorize.

But there's not a lot of entertainment value there, and the makeup is offputting.

Also, you guys have had a total boner for her since the beginning. Kiley wasted a ton of space on her last year for some garbage at OTB. There's something going on here. There's some insider thing going on.

She gets money from somewhere, funding. Something isn't quite right. All those previous articles, a giant profile leading up to a solo show. Why? There's obviously a personal connection that hasn't been disclosed.

It's a great article, but the lack of comments is telling. This person doesn't inspire any passion.

@3 doesn't find her interesting, therefore, her career is obviously a sham and she's a front for some kind of shady dealings.
5
I'm confused. If they have had transwomen on RuPaul's Drag Race, why wouldn't they allow a drag queen who just happens to have two X chromosomes?
6
@4 doesn't have anything to contribute to the conversation, therefore makes a snarky comment on a comment with some actual content.

Do you think she's interesting?
Would you be surprised if she didn't have some kind of connection with the Stranger Staff? She must.
7
@6 - Yes, I find her interesting. If there's a connection there, I wouldn't be surprised if it's nothing more than the same connection that all artists in this one-horse town have.

But your Dan-Brown-like insistence on a conspiracy of shitty artists is fascinating. Tell me more about your theories.

The article says she's being produced by something called Made in Seattle. So that's the funding I'm talking about. It's the usual stew of 4Culture grants, scholarships and, I don't know, bored Microsoft wives who throw money at The Arts.

Not exactly a conspiracy. Not even a Kickstarter.
Substandard performers get to float along if they go to the right school or make friends with the right Kiley.

Is what I'm saying.

Unlike, say, J. Monsoon who blasted to the top by blowing everyone away at every gig.

#5, in my opinion, trans people should only perform drag as the opposite sex of what they are (as drag is meant to be performed). Someone should start a Drag King show, and then those transwomen on RuPaul's show would make sense to me.

@8 The only worthwhile part of your comment was "I don't know." Are you somebody who's bitter you can't get funding yourself or are you actually ignorant enough that you believe what you're saying? Take 30 seconds and learn something next time before you make it absolutely clear to everybody that you have zero idea what you're talking about. People get funding because they have talent and work hard. It's hard work making art and it's hard work fundraising. This case is no exception. And there is in fact a crowdfunding campaign going for this show right now. It took me less than 2 minutes to find it. Did you bother to check?

I personally know many people in the dance community and beyond who think she's brilliant. I include myself in that group. Cherdonna may not be your thing and that's fine; but if you think you're contributing something of value to the "conversation" with your misinformed nonsense you're mistaken.
11
What the hell are you guys talking about? Cherdonna is one of the funniest performers in Seattle. Hands down. I can't even look at her without cracking up. And I know lots and lots of other people who agree with this. Keep it up, lady.
12
What #10 & 11 said!
13
She's a clown,
it's a very ancient and venerable art form that we seem to have forgotten entirely.
14
@13 - Very astute!
15
@8@3 Maybe try doing some research. Cherdonna DID do a HatchFund (like Kickstarter) to fund this production. Made in Seattle is not "the usual stew of 4Culture grants, scholarships and, I don't know, bored Microsoft wives who throw money at The Arts" (although I see nothing wrong with that) but a program through Velocity Dance Center that commissions several local artists a year to make work. Velocity and Kuehner work their asses off to get that funding. No one is "floating along" so please take your trolling ass elsewhere. Cherdonna is not just a cabaret performer, but someone making very nuanced, complex, and abstract art in the dance world. So when you say she's "uninteresting" I can only assume it's because you've never actually been to one of her dance shows. It's okay. Intelligent art is scary for small minded individuals.
