A retrospective at SAM reveals things about the major American painter you may not know.

Wow. Thank you, Katie. Amazing work from a true master, clear even in these small images. Knowing a bit about the artist makes them all the more compelling.

I don't often get to art museums (not since visiting the Frye in college - 10+ years ago - and I don't remember the subject other than that the theme was graphite drawings), but I might just have to check this out.
