I hear federal agents are going house to house in New Jersey, looking for obese young men sitting on their couches. Highly suspicious!!!!

2

I’d hope to wake up to mass demonstrations in the streets of the US. Guess having a President committing treason is no biggy.
And now he tries it on to backpedal.

3

Apparently, the major news outlets can’t get any more Republinazis to go on record. Maybe the ‘pubs are frantically trying to figure out how to spin this open treason as a total victory for Dear Leader, and we’re the ones who’re the Reverse Traitors for our loyalty to the US.

They’ve been betraying the American people for so many decades on behalf of US oligarchs that betraying us on behalf of Ru$$ian oligarchs jus’ ain’t no thang.

5

@ 2,

We’ve repeatedly held the largest mass protests in US history over the last 18 months, most recently June 30, and our Greedy Oligarch Pervert rulers have made it crystal clear that they Don’t Give a Fuck in the slightest. The Republinazi Fuck You party that’s holding the US hostage only responds to demands from their donors, who’re whoopin’ it up and laughing all the way to the bank.

6

I don't think trump sucked putins dick and its homophobic to say he did. Its unclear if they jacked each other off though.

8

@5. So? This isn’t a protest competition. And those were organised and planned way ahead.
Ffs, spontaneous defense of what’s left of your democracy might be in order, right about Now.
Trump said the two greatest nuclear powers need to be friends. No they do not. The USA has been a moral counter to the horrors of Russia. Five minutes of sunshine back when does not change anything. Putin is a total psychopath. He murders whoever he likes. You want the US like that?
At least bombard the elected officials. He committed treason. In front of the world. A Russian stooge in The White House.

As @1 notes, we can't discount the possibility Mueller COULD discover it really was just some 400 pound dweeb that caused all of this in the first place. Or it could have been a weasel chewing on some wires, or it could have been the evil MCU from Tron, or it could have been space aliens. I mean, if that's going to be the standard, then we can't rule out ANY possibility, can we?

@LavaGirl

Here in the United States there's a long and well-documented history of the authorities meeting public protest with violence.
It's not the only reason that Americans aren't likely to spontaneously take to the streets, but I think it's a contributing factor.

11

Yes Adam, I’ve seen the footage. The sixties especially was pretty bloody. And I understand not wanting to be shot.

This retraction makes absolutely NO sense in context. Watch the video included here (the summary at the bottom):

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/24-hours-later-trump-claims-he-misspoke-helsinki-meant-say-n892166

Rant about the missing emails, "where is the server?"
Intelligence service people tell Trump it was Putin.
State how Putin assured Trump that it wasn't him.
"I don't see why it would be Russia."
Return to server rant.
"I have confidence in both parties." [Presumably meaning Putin and intelligence community? Which just told him opposite things? He can't possibly mean both US political parties.]
Return to rant over missing server/emails.
"Putin strongly denies it was them who meddled. Putin even invited the investigators to Russia to help with that investigation!"

But sure. He misspoke that one word, in that one sentence. And that somehow clarifies EVERYTHING.

13

Really? We can't include numbered lists either? What the fuck, Stranger webmasters.

14

Come in my mouth without permission once, shame on you.

Come in my mouth without permission twice, shame on me.

15

@Seattle in Alaska - He may not have sucked Putin's dick, but he certainly spent a good long while licking the man's boots, the soles and uppers both. It's a wonder Putin didn't make squelching sounds when they walked up to the microphones.

Lavagirl, it goes even beyond what can happen at a protest itself regarding violance. I saw a meme on Facebook recently, and while I don't put much stock in memes I think this one pretty much nails it. It's basically a response to that very question and the response is that in the US most of us work in an environment where we can't just take off to protest. And that since social safety nets are quickly shrinking, and health care is typically tied to our jobs, that would leave us in a very dangerous place.

It may seem hyperbolic to say that, but it is really true.

If I just took off work to go protest at the last minute I would probably be fired. If I lied and said I was sick and then was caught on TV protesting I'd almost certainly be fired. If I did anything that embarrassed my employer I could get fired.

And if I get fired I would probably end up losing my home. And if I got fired I would lose my health insurance, and if I got sick there's no way I could afford treatment.

And while that may seem like a lot of "ifs" I've seen it happen more times than I care to think about.

When I was younger, and had far more resources to fall back on (such as parents) and far fewer responsibilities I could and did run out to protest on the drop of a dime when I saw injustice.

Today, like many, I am under the thumb of our oligarchical corporate masters who have managed to put most Americans in a place where even the act of engaging in our constitutional right to protest can result in consequences that many of us simply can't afford to pay.

And while that may seem far fetched to some it really isn't when you recognize that it didn't just happen. Americans being put into this position was intentional and planned by the oligarchy we live under. So we are damned if we do and damned if we don't.
