@1, 2 -- "Saying she won't testify before there's a FBI investigation is lame; that makes this look like a political stunt to push things back until after the midterms. Anyway, the FBI doesn't investigate non-crimes that are well past the Statute of Limitations. If she wanted to call Kavanaugh out for a near rape, the time to do it was 30+ years ago, not now."

Not so fast...

“Everyone Deserves Better Than This Senate Spectacle. Forget the political finger pointing. Christine Blasey Ford’s accusation against Brett Kavanaugh needs to be seriously investigated.” --By The [NYT] Editorial Board

“Speaking of unreliable memories, it’s laughable for Republicans to complain, as some do, that Dr. Blasey’s claim is too old to be considered. The Senate Judiciary Committee is not a court of law; it’s an arena of politics.

Remember that less than a decade ago, Republican senators were happy to grill Sonia Sotomayor, President Barack Obama’s first pick for the court, about positions taken 30 years earlier by a legal-defense fund whose board she had once sat on.

Certainly there’s no statute of limitations preventing the committee from weighing allegations of attempted rape against a nominee to a lifetime seat on the highest court in the land. Besides, since Judge Kavanaugh has flatly denied the accusation, his honesty now — not as a teenager — is at issue.”

Those whom believe Christine Blasey Ford by definition also believe Juanita Broaddrick.

6

"I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for the FBI
to get involved; this simply isn't on their patch." --@4

Au contraire -- Investigating shit like this IS the FBI's Main Raison D'être!

IF the Prez asked them to, they must -- which, sadly, he will not.
Repub's whole fucking Point is to blast this thing thru
at tip top speed before the next Consequential Election.

They don't give a ratfuck about our 'democracy.'
Letting We, the People have OUR Say.
They sold their Souls decades ago.
Total Control, or Bust.

7

Hell, YES--Christine Blasey Ford should testify against Brett Kavanaugh! Here's hoping the RepubliKKKan Klown Kar goes over a cliff soon and their neofascist regime never recovers.

8

@4

"... if Mrs. Ford doesn't hide behind the smokescreen of holding out for a FBI investigation that everyone knows wouldn't be legal." --MR.B

''Everyone'' knows? You "know." I sure as fuck don't.
Nor does Everyone else.

“The Kavanaugh Charade: What are Republicans hiding about him? What don’t they want you to know? By Charles M. Blow

Donald Trump and Senate Republicans have no interest whatsoever in revealing the whole truth about Brett Kavanaugh.

Their plan was to perform a rush-job confirmation that installed him on the Supreme Court over all objections well enough in advance of the midterm elections to provide a shield to Republicans worried about what feels like an imminent blue wave.

That is why his hearings were scheduled so quickly. That is why more than 42,000 pages of documents were released the night before his confirmation hearings started — all of which were to be treated as ‘committee-confidential’ at the time.”

9

She is not going to testify, and she never was going to.

10

@1-4, & 6 the FBI is not going to investigate because it is not in their jurisdiction. The proper authority to investigate is the Montgomery County Police. That being said it is nearly impossible to investigate without a date, time, and place. I'm sure you will bring up Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas, which was investigated by the FBI, but that was due to the fact that the alleged incident(s) took place on Federal property by two Federal Employees so it was within the FBI's jurisdiction.

11

@9: What are you RepubliKKKan he-males so scared of, besides losing your hard ons?

12

Can you hold your breath till Monday, Teddy?!

13

first if you are called to testify before congress, you testify. Now she is stipulating. You go, you say your piece and then you go away. @11 over the past 2 yrs there has been over 500 recorded incidents of liberals attacking conservatives & none that I know of conservatives attacking liberals. so basically you're the fascist. So before you go around calling people names why don't you just grow up or shut up.

14

“What Is the FBI's Role in the Kavanaugh Allegations?”

“Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, a former chairman of the Judiciary Committee, told CNN that an additional FBI investigation ‘would be done’ if the current committee chairman, Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, asked for it.

‘If the chairman called the FBI and said, 'We have this question about a nominee. Would you look into it?' Of course they do,’ Leahy said.

Grassley rejected that idea Wednesday, saying that ‘no other outside investigation is necessary.’”

Grassley's a Republican. Of fucking Course he’s gonna say that. Their first fucking ACT in this Congress was to try and de-fund the fucking Ethics Committee. What else could one possibly expect from these sold-out corporate Whores? Unsurprisingly, President Pussy Grabber has no use for any F.B.I. investigations either. (What if they looked into HIS multiple transgressions?!) (He's REALLY gonna need a Get-the-Fuck-OUTA-Jail-FREE card! And Kavanaughtius is just the 'justice' to hand him one. Birds of a feather kinda shit. You know.)

They’ve got no fucking use for any more damning (to them) information.

Justice Kavanaughtius will ride this Debacle into the History Books. Perhaps the Kavanaughtius Decision (adding 3 fresh new members to the Supreme Court) will be his finest achievement.

15

"I'm sure you will bring up Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas... "

It took the Federal Bureau Investigation just three days for their Investigation into Justice "Uncle" Thomas. (why the bum's rush? it''s a fucking LIFETIME appointment)

But, I gotta admit, it sure looks like the FBI blew that one.

16

(Dan -- Congrats on pulling thru -- Especially with no fucking monkey on your back!)

Purdue Pharma regrets your speedy recovery.

17

@14 What do you really think the FBI is going to do? They don't have a time machine or any truth telling devices. The FBI will take down written statements and then give them to the Committee, the committee would then review the statements and ask the accuser, witnesses, and the accused to testify. The accuser must testify first, because the accused and witnesses must be able afforded the right to respond to the allegations.

The only reason the Democrats want the FBI to investigate is to delay. I don't know much about the Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas case, but FBI investigations tend to take a lot longer these days...

18

"The only reason the Democrats want the FBI to investigate is to delay."

Your problem, Driddy, is that you think everyone else thinks just like you do. Obviously, one must take the cynical approach towards all Republican antics, but maybe women should be heard from too?

When men acuses priests of sexual assault that occurred 30-plus years ago, they're generally believed. When women do the same, people like you -- and President Pussy Grabber -- of all people!-- claim they're Lying.

Without proper vetting, the reign of Justice Kavanaughtiest will be forever tainted, and, by extension, so will our Supreme Court.

This is a fucking LIFETIME appointment.

What's the Rush?

19

I didn't say that I don't believe her. I'm definitely not saying she shouldn't be heard. She should testify to the committee. These allegations should have been brought up 7 weeks ago when Feinstein received the letter. The committee could have reviewed the allegations then and brought Ford in to the private hearings, Ford would have never had to come out publicly and deal with crap from random people on the internet. Alas, Feinstein sat on letter until the last minute, then called for the FBI to investigate when the FBI has no business investigating, and now wants to delay the testimony. At the very least that is fishy.

"When men acuses priests of sexual assault that occurred 30-plus years ago, they're generally believed. When women do the same, people like you -- and President Pussy Grabber -- of all people!-- claim they're Lying"

This is an awful take. This has nothing to do with men vs women making accusations. Hundreds of men accused priests of sexual assault not just one guy. Similar to dozens of women making accusations towards Weinstein & Cosby.

20

Feinstein's fuckup should not derail attempted rape allegations concerning a lifetime Supreme Court appointee -- nor should Kavanaugh's denial exonerate himself.

Trumpfy's got pretty deep faith in his personal get-outta-prison-FREE card's veracity and integrity. (Hell, Trumpfy's been accused, so many times of such shenanigans -- who'd know better about lying about them -- than President Pussy Grabber?) Why not let's Enable the Federal Bureau of Investigation to fucking Investigate this shit (despite your protestations, the FBI can and does do this type of thing – this guy’s a Federal appointee needing investigating).

This whole fucking debacle is making a mockery of American democracy. They just wanna force down our throats (sensing a pattern here) their extreme far alt right Activist extremist.

Meanwhile, most of Pussy Grabber's election managers have ended up in jail, or are on their way there, and he's implicated in some pretty shady shit -- and HE's gonna pick the next SCOTUS justice?

WTF.

21

Oh, and if they don't address it, it's gonna stay a very nasty stain on his justiceship.

He really needs to pull out. It's too late.

22

Kavanaugh has to stay in the fight to the bitter end now because if there is any hint of admission, he is beyond ruined.

They haven’t even released the letter but I know exactly what is in it: K and his bud Judge had to silence the two girls after the girls and Judge pantsed K and the girls couldn’t hold back the hysterical laughter after seeing K's Power Ranger undies! All the party attendees from Holton-Arms girl school were there purely for the awesome chess challenges and multiple scrabble boards with the lazy susan bases. K would have died if the rest of the chess club knew what he really wore under his Dockers!
Seriously though, these new rules are freaking awesome!!! The hearing for the Dem nominee to replace RBG in 2021 is going to be lit as fuck!!!

23

Yes, she should testify. It is unfair, and it is even unfairer how poised and deft she will have to be to appear reasonable as a bunch of old white men ask questions that imply she’s lying or it was her fault or it couldn’t have been that bad or that Kavanaugh’s value to revisionist legal theory outweighs what he did to her; but to stay silent is to let them paint her as the girl who cried wolf.

24

Should Dr. Blasey Ford testify? It's totally her call. The game is clearly rigged against her (the FBI absolutely should reopen its background investigation into Kavanaugh just as it did with Clarence Thomas when Anita Hill came forward, and Kavanaugh should be required to testify first, because (1) he is the "plaintiff" who stands to personally gain from this proceeding and (2) she has submitted a detailed written statement that he would be responding to) so I TOTALLY understand if she decides it's just not worth it. Especially if those horrible men bring in a litigious outside female counsel to interrogate her. If they can't handle this themselves, they are unqualified to sit on the Judicial Committee and should resign forthwith.

BUT since I think she is the one telling the truth (she wants the FBI to get involved, he doesn't -- that's a huge tell) and since I believe that in the present era this fact would be readily apparent to most people even under hostile questioning (much as Anita Hill's testimony, widely dismissed at the time, resonates with powerful truth today), I hope Dr. Blasey Ford is up for this ordeal. No judgment or criticism on my part if she isn't. I'm not sure I could handle it either.

25

Excellent comments, Marica.
This one’s also excellent:

“… if those horrible men … can't handle this themselves, they are unqualified to sit on the Judicial Committee and should resign forthwith.”

Stuck in the Fifties, they are. Taking America back, there, they wanna. And naturally unqualified for anything other than handing us over to Corporate rule. It’s really the only thing they’re really good at. (They’ll also make Wonderful lobbyists!)

Plus, half the population is women. Or maybe more.
Where are the (R) women on the Senate Judicial Committee?

A. They don’t exist.
B. Those hard right* Patriarchicals, they truly doth thrive, however.

*THNX, Viagra!

She's probably testifying Thursday and she's doing very well by so effectively negotiating the terms of her testifying - and so this doesn't devolve into another spectacle such as the way Anita Hill was so poorly treated - and by a group of white men.

@1 You may be as cracked as Trump if you consider what was described as "drunken pawing." It was sexual assault and attempted rape - felonies. How would you like it, mister, if, on your way to the bathroom at a party, Mr Kavanaugh grabbed you, stuffed a rag in your mouth, dragged you into a bedroom, shoved you on bed with his pal watching, and grabbed your genitals? Would you still be so worried about his career if it were you?

Not to mention, this is exactly what the FBI gets involved in - it's an appointment to the SCOTUS - and Mr. Kavanaugh's described behavior is punishable by prison time plus disbarment. Kind of hard to be a judge - let alone the highest court in the country - if you shouldn't have even qualified for the bar and from the get-go. The FBI was involved within 2 days of the Anita Hill allegations. Why would you be so concerned about the FBI looking into this? Could it be @1 you're concerned that they might find out Mr Kavanaugh really did what she said? Or that Mr Kvanaugh may have done this to others, as well?

Wouldn't be surprised.

@5 "Those whom believe Christine Blasey Ford by definition also believe Juanita Broaddrick."

By your reasoning, those who believe Juanita Broderick, by definition, also believe Christine Blasey Ford.

29

The problem with Juanita Broaddrick is that she swore under oath (in re: Paula Jones) that she wasn't raped and then she changed her story years later under extreme pressure from right-wing activists involved in the Clinton impeachment effort. That doesn't mean it didn't happen (I have never been a fan of Bill Clinton and have less than zero interest in defending his personal behavior), but it does mean that she is not as PRESUMPTIVELY credible as Christine Blasey Ford. At present, I believe Blasey Ford and don't know what to believe regarding Broaddrick.

30

Uh, oh, Judge -- here comes Another One!

From the New Yorker:
"Senate Democrats Investigate a New Sexual-Misconduct Allegation Against Brett Kavanaugh Deborah Ramirez, a Yale classmate of the Supreme Court nominee, has described a dormitory party gone awry and a drunken incident that she wants the F.B.I. to investigate." -- By Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer

It's Time to step aside, Just-Us Kavanaughtiest Maximus.
It's not the Nineteen Fifties any more --
you just (barely!) missed it.

But miss it, you did....

Fixed.

32

5: Look, Bill Clinton was a scumbag, but it's too late to erase his presidency. Even if he was convicted of raping Juanita Broaddrick-and that would not be a slam dunk, given that, as mentioned above, she testified under oath that he DIDN'T rape her-you're not going to invalidate anything he did in office that you may have had a problem with.

33

Also #5, at some point you're going to have to accept the fact that, even if Bill Clinton had never been born(a lot of progressive Dems wish he hadn't) the GOP was going to lose the White House sometime around the Nineties-you were never going to have nothing but Republican presidents for the rest of eternity.
