Yah, what's up with that? "Hand" was a decent piece of work. Not Irving's best but certainly better than the utterly unreadable "Until I Find You". I"m looking forward to his forthcoming "Last Night In Twisted River".

The Fourth Hand is only decent in comparison to Until I Find You. I used to consider John Irving my favorite author; this book changed that, and I smiled to see someone else acknowledge how lousy it was.

Yes! That book was terrible. It completely killed the Irving reading streak I was on at the time, and I haven't touched a book by him since.
